The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox will finish their four-game series on Wednesday night. It's time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Twins-White Sox prediction and pick.
The White Sox have rattled off two straight wins after losing the series opener to Minnesota. Those two wins helped Chicago tighten their stranglehold on the AL Central, holding the biggest division lead in the MLB. The Cleveland Indians are 9.5 games back of the White Sox, which is good for second in the division. Plenty of people thought the Twins would be in the mix for the division title, but Minnesota is currently sitting in last place in the division. The Twins would love to play spoiler to their division rival and split the series with one of the best teams in baseball.

Why The Twins Could Cover The Spread
They might have a losing record, but the Twins know how to hit. They rank inside the top ten in the MLB in home runs hit and hits overall. Scoring isn't hard to come by for Minnesota, so White Sox starter Dylan Cease could be in for a long outing.
Cease has been decent for most of this season, but his last seven starts have been uninspiring. He owns a 5.50 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP over that span, showing that Cease is stuck on a bit of a cold streak.
To make things even better for the Twins, Cease has struggled against Minnesota this season. He's faced the Twins three times this season with mixed results. Cease's best outing against the Twins was a five-inning, two-earned performance. His worst was when he gave up six runs over five innings and got saddled with the loss. Minnesota clearly hits Cease well, so look for the Twins to get some early runs on the board.
Why The White Sox Could Cover The Spread
Chicago comes into this game as one of the hottest teams in baseball. They've won eight out of their last ten, scoring a series victory over the Houston Astros over that stretch. They're firing on all cylinders, but the offense has been particularly impressive lately. The White Sox have scored more than 4 runs in seven of their last ten. They rank inside the top ten in the league in batting average, OBP, OPS, and slugging percentage.
None of this bodes well for Twins starter Michael Pineda. Pineda has been decent this season, but much like Cease, he's struggled in recent starts. He owns an ERA of 5.56 and a WHIP of 1.50 over his last seven starts. Pineda has already faced the White Sox twice this season, getting hit badly in both outings. Over those two games, Pineda pitched 10 innings and gave up eight runs. Now he has to face a Chicago offense that is one of the hottest in the league.

Look for the White Sox to stay hot and win this game, but that's not the best bet available. The over looks great at -120. Both teams have had a lot of success against the opposing pitcher, and both pitchers are currently slumping. The over/under should probably be set at 10 for this game.
