The Milwaukee Brewers will host the Chicago White Sox for the first of a three-game set on Friday evening. It’s time to continue our MLB odds series and make a White Sox-Brewers prediction and pick.

This will be the first meeting between these clubs this season. The White Sox and Brewers split their season series with the road team winning every game in 2020. These clubs have comfortable leads in their respective divisions coming into this highly touted interleague matchup.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening White Sox-Brewers odds.

Chicago White Sox +1.5 (-184)

Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 (+164)

Over 7.5 Runs (-117)

Under 7.5 Runs (-103)

Why The White Sox Could Cover The Spread

The White Sox have been one of the best all-around teams in baseball this season. They are 58-38 on the year and have a commanding nine-game lead over the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central. Chicago has been a top-five club in the majors in both offensive and defensive production. They currently have a +1.32 average run differential, which is among the best in baseball this season. The White Sox have been hot of late with five straight road wins and wins in nine of their last 12 games overall.

Chicago will turn to right-hander Lucas Giolito to open the series. Giolito has been solid for the White Sox with a 8-6 record and 3.90 ERA through 19 starts. He has struck out an impressive 133 batters and has a 1.11 WHIP in 113 innings of work. The White Sox starter has been effective with two earned runs or fewer over his last two starts. He is coming off his strongest start of the season as he tossed a complete game against the Houston Astros with just one earned run allowed.

Why The Brewers Could Cover The Spread

The Brewers have quickly regained their status as one of the best teams in the National League. They struggled out of the gate this season and have since taken the league by storm over the better part of a month. The Brewers are now 56-41 and 6.5 games above the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central standings. Milwaukee has struggled at home of late, though, losing five straight. The Brew Crew just lost two straight games against the Kansas City Royals and have to use the opener to get back on track.

Milwaukee will hand the ball to right-hander Freddy Peralta in the series opener. Peralta has been superb for the Brewers this season with a 7-3 record and 2.39 ERA through 18 appearances and 17 starts. He has struck out an incredible 135 batters and has a 0.90 WHIP through 98 innings of work. The Brewers starter has allowed three earned runs or fewer in at least five innings of work in each of his last three starts to date. Milwaukee will need a strong start from Peralta in order to get back on track against a tough opponent in Chicago.

Final White Sox-Brewers Prediction & Pick

I am going to side with the over in a game that features two of the best teams in baseball. Although the Brewers have struggled offensively, they have been better of late and will look to keep up with one of the best offensive teams in the majors. The White Sox have hit the over in 14 of their last 20 games and should continue to hit well in this series. Both starters have been great this season, but 7.5 runs seems low with what both clubs are capable of at the plate.

FINAL PICK: Over 7.5 Runs (-117)
