Blake Snell is still un-signed as rumors continue to swirl. Snell, who most recently pitched for the San Diego Padres and won the 2023 NL Cy Young award, has not received as much interest as expected in MLB free agency. The Los Angeles Angels have been mentioned as a suitor, and the San Francisco Giants will also be a team to keep an eye on.

MLB insider Jon Heyman said the Giants and Angels “make a lot of sense” for Blake Snell, per B/R Walk-Off.

“I do think the Angels and Giants make a lot of sense for Snell,” Heyman said. “Snell seems to be spending some time in the OC, so maybe he kind of favors the Angels. I'm guessing he likes the west coast. It's the year of the west coast it seems like. He is from Seattle so that's on the west coast.”

Giants' interest in Blake Snell

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be the team to beat in the National League in 2024 after they added multiple superstars this offseason. Heyman believes the Dodgers could play a role in the Giants' pursuit of Snell.

“He pitched in San Diego very successfully,” Heyman continued. “He obviously has pitched well against the Dodgers so it makes sense for the Giants.”

It should be noted that San Francisco was previously mentioned as a suitor for Snell. It appears that their pursuit of Snell is even more realistic now, though.

The Giants have endured trouble attracting top free agents in recent seasons. Perhaps that will change with the reigning NL Cy Young winner. The Angels cannot be ruled out either, however.

We will continue to monitor and provide updates on Blake Snell's free agency as they are made available.
