After being a PlayStation exclusive and only last year making its debut on the Xbox, MLB The Show is expanding yet again to more console platforms—this time around, it's coming to the Nintendo Switch. Fans will be raring to get their hands on the 2022 iteration of the popular baseball simulation game, especially with last season's MVP and Los Angeles Angels ace Shohei Ohtani as the cover star. Revealed by the Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, get a first look at the MLB The Show 22 gameplay trailer ahead of its slated release date on the Switch.

MLB The Show 22 Nintendo Switch Release Date: April 5, 2022

MLB The Show 22 will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch platform on April 5, 2022. With the Switch-specific trailer premiering during the latest Nintendo Direct, Shohei Ohtani makes a surprise physical appearance in the video. It also makes the most of highlighting the generational talent's dual role as a fantastic pitcher with a mean splitter and one who can swing the bat—hard. With Ohtani coming off his best season yet—one where he recorded over 150 strikeouts with a 3.18 ERA and 46 homers and 100 RBI—it's no surprise that the MLB The Show 22 promo so far has been all about him, and fans are highly anticipating the game's release, regardless of platform.

Some of the other features that fans will be looking forward to will be the cross-progression system, which allows players to transfer their saves across different systems. So if you've got any PlayStation set, an Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S, you can share your progress and keep playing on the go with the Switch. Online matches will also support cross-platform play.

Game modes include: Road to the Show, Diamond Dynasty, March to October (single season), and Franchise. In Exhibition games, players will also get to use motion controls using a single joy-con as they go up against friends. Road to the Show is the game's career mode, where you can take control of a player and lead them through minors to majors—and in commemoration of Ohtani's historical season, MLB The Show 22 lets you play as a two-way player for the first time ever. Meanwhile, Diamond Dynasty is the Ultimate Team mode, where you can spend to buy packs and try to get better players. In this year's edition, Hall of Fame pitcher Randy Johnson and power hitter Ryan Howard are the new legendary additions to the mode.

MLB The Show 22's release is less than two months away, and let's hope that the Switch version has the smooth graphics to allow players to fully enjoy the experience—pitching, on the outfield, hitting and running the bases.
