Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez was on his way to returning from the injured list, as he was set to embark on his first rehab start. However, it was not to be. Rodriguez was shockingly placed on the restricted list on Monday, though the Tigers gave no reason for the move. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Rodriguez is dealing with marriage problems, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Tigers pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez’s appearance on the restricted list is related to a marital issue, according to sources, and there’s no timetable yet for his return.

Rodriguez will take some time away from the Tigers to attend to the marital issue. No timetable for his return has been determined.

The Tigers left-hander will not be paid while on the restricted list. Rodriguez signed a five-year, $77 million contract with Detroit this offseason after spending the first six seasons of his career with the Boston Red Sox.

The 29-year-old was forced to exit his start against the Tampa Bay Rays with a ribcage sprain about a month ago. Unfortunately, his return to the mound will be pushed back a bit as he deals with this issue.

So far in 2022, the Tigers lefty has posted a 1-3 record with a 4.38 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched. Here's hoping that all is well with Rodriguez and his wife.
