The Los Angeles Angels have, once again, fallen off the playoff race pace. Despite making multiple trades before the deadline (then later waiving those acquisitions) to bolster the Shohei Ohtani-led roster, the Angels will, more likely than not, miss the postseason for the ninth consecutive year. Nevertheless, that doesn't make the last 28 games of their season meaningless contests, as the team will now be looking towards the future in their bid to avoid their playoff drought from reaching a decade.

To that end, the Angels are calling up yet another top prospect of theirs. Per Taylor Blake Ward of The Sporting Tribune and AngelsWin.com, the team is calling up middle infielder Kyren Paris, the 21-year old middle infielder who performed quite well in his stint with Double-A Rocket City.

Paris ranked sixth in MLB.com's midseason Angels top prospects list, with his footspeed being his best asset as of the moment. This speed allows him to excel both on the basepaths and as a defensive presence for the team in the middle of the diamond, with scouts believing that second base is his more likely home in the long run.

During the 2023 season, Kyren Paris has tallied a slash line of .255/.393/.417 to go along with 14 home runs, 45 runs batted in, and 44 stolen bases (in 49 attempts) for the Angels' Double-A affiliate. His strikeout rate remains high, at 29.4 percent, but he makes up for it with an impressive ability to get on base, which helps maximize the best asset of his game.

The Angels are shaping up to build a solid young core with Paris breaking through the big leagues alongside the likes of Nolan Schanuel and Logan O'Hoppe.
