Max Scherzer was impressive on the mound in Monday's Mets victory over the Cardinals. However, the right-hander did not factor into the decision despite striking out 10 batters over 7 innings and allowing no runs.

Trevor May entered the ballgame in the 8th and immediately surrendered two runs in relief of Scherzer. New York would end up finding themselves down 2-0 in the ninth inning against Cardinals' closer Giovanny Gallegos . But the Mets proved their resiliency and scored 5 runs en route to a fantastic comeback win.

Max Scherzer detailed what he thought about the comeback following the dramatic ballgame.

He was first asked where he watched the game from to which he replied:

“In the (clubhouse) kitchen.”

His response was met with plenty of laughter from the reporters interviewing Scherzer. He then expressed how impressed he was by the team's effort.

“Just watching the AB's, Eduardo (Escobar) grind it out, (Jeff) McNeil grind it out, (Mark) Canha grind it out, just putting together good AB's. Watching Dom (Dominic Smith) do his thing, the base running by Jeff (McNeil), everybody had a hand in that rally and that's the cool thing, when you see your offense go off like that,” Scherzer declared. “What can you say, that was just a great 9th inning for us.”

The Mets currently hold a 13-5 record heading into Tuesday's action which is good for the best mark in the MLB. The Mets are playing extremely well despite Jacob deGrom still being out with injury. New York will look to keep the momentum in full swing as they prepare for a rematch with the Cardinals in St. Louis.
