Man, the New York Mets just can't catch a break in the last few days. Earlier in the week, Francisco Lindor missed a few games due to a finger injury caused by a double door. Now, Max Scherzer, who has been recovering from an oblique strain, suffered a hand injury… after his own dog bit him.
The hits just keep coming for the Mets. Scherzer was the subject of a couple of jokes online regarding the Mets. There was also speculation that this incident would set the pitcher's recovery back a few weeks. However, Scherzer himself took to Twitter to clear the air about what exactly happened, and the effect on his recovery.

Well, that certainly clears up a few worries for Mets fans. For one, Scherzer himself said that the bite wouldn't affect his oblique rehab despite the injury being on his throwing hand. Also, the star noted that the bite itself wasn't severe, which is a great sign.
Article Continues BelowThe Mets have been on a pretty great run despite the injuries to their star players. They stand on top of the NL East at 35-19, and no team is particularly close to them at this moment. Should they continue this inspired run, they will very likely going to break their much-maligned playoff drought since 2016.
Help is on the horizon for New York, as well. Jacob deGrom, the long-time ace of the Mets, has been making significant strides in his rehab from injury. This team has the potential to be a top contender in the league for this season… maybe even beyond.
