When the free agency period opened up in November, there was much expectation that the New York Yankees would bolster their lineup with a $100 million-plus signing. Still, Yankees manager Brian Cashman watched as the likes of Carlos Correa and Trevor Story signed mega-deals elsewhere.
At the least, Giancarlo Stanton is still confident that the Yankees lineup will be one to watch in the upcoming 2022 season.
“We’re very dynamic,” Stanton said after the Yankees’ spring training loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. “We’re going to be great.”
Stanton further added that the team simply needs to “put it together for a full season.”
Article Continues BelowInjuries sure prevented the Yankees lineup from orchestrating a keen season last year. For one, Stanton faced a stint on the injured list in May due to a quad injury, but he managed to play in at least 80 percent of regular season games for the first time since the 2018 campaign.
As mentioned, Cashman has not been overly aggressive in revamping the lineup in the offseason, although he did re-sign Anthony Rizzo and brought in Josh Donaldson and Isiah Kiner-Falefa via a trade.
A pivotal season awaits the Yankees, as they may be in for an unpredictable AL East title race.
