The New York Yankees are playing a doubleheader with the Los Angeles Angels in the Bronx on Thursday on Lou Gehrig Day. In honor of the legend, slugger Aaron Judge is wearing some epic cleats that not only have a picture of Gehrig but also part of his ALS speech from July 4th, 1939.

Take a look:

That's awesome from Judge. Gehrig is one of the greatest to ever do it for the Yankees and he passed away just two years after that infamous speech on June 2nd, 1941. Today marks 81 years since he died.

The Bronx Bombers are an iconic franchise and there is no better player than Judge to pay his respects to Gehrig. The outfielder is in the midst of a fantastic season for the Yankees, hitting .303 with 18 homers already in 47 games. He's due for a huge extension next summer, whether it be with NY or elsewhere. But if Judge continues to rake on a consistent basis, they will certainly be doing everything imaginable to extend him.

NY is currently at the top of the AL East with a 34-15 record. The only team with more wins? The Mets at 35-17.

It wouldn't be a surprise to see more than just Aaron Judge honoring Lou Gehrig. The first man to ever be diagnosed with ALS, he changed the world forever.
