The New York Yankees managed to stage a stunning comeback against the Houston Astros and win in the bottom of the 10th inning courtesy of an Aaron Judge 3-run walk-off homer. During the win, however, star infielder Gleyber Torres went down with an ankle injury while running the bases in the ninth inning. While trying to be aggressive on the base paths late in the game, Torres rolled over his ankle painfully and was unable to remain in the game.
Aaron Boone provided an important update on the Yankees' second baseman after the win, during which he revealed that Torres is dealing with a minor ankle sprain, according to Bryan Hoch.

Boone indicated that he doesn't expect the injury to be serious, so it's unlikely that Torres will require a stint on the IL. It wouldn't be surprising to see Torres get a day or two of rest, especially with the Oakland Athletics coming to town on Monday, owners of the MLB's worst record.
Article Continues BelowThe Yankees host the A's in a three-game series from June 27-29 before being scheduled for a single matchup against the Astros on June 30. That game is a makeup from the Yankees-Astros' season-opening series that was postponed as a result of the MLB lockout.
It's unclear if Torres will miss any time, as Boone didn't indicate either way, however his update is extremely encouraging considering the 25-year-old had to be helped off the field and into the dugout.
After a dismal 2021, Torres has bounced back tremendously in 2022. The full-time move to second base seems to have had positive impacts both offensively and defensively for Torres, who is slashing .250/.302/.487 with 13 home runs, 32 RBI, and 33 runs scored across 68 games. Compared to last year, when he hit just 9 home runs and 51 RBI across 127 games, his improvement has been easy to see.
