As George Springer's go-ahead home run for the Toronto Blue Jays helped massively in propelling the team into their first World Series since 1993, beating the Seattle Mariners 4-3 in Game 7 of the ALCS, there's no denying the excitement around the club. While Blue Jays fans explode with happiness in reaching the World Series, one person who shares that excitement is Toronto Maple Leafs star Max Domi.
According to Dave McCarthy, Domi was watching Game of the ALCS at his house as he revealed what he did when Springer hit the three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
“I was at home on my couch. I think I hit the ceiling,” Domi said.
There wasn't one person more excited than Springer, though, who said after the game that he “blacked out” after realizing that the ball he hit was a home run, according to ESPN.
“I knew I got the guy in from third, which was all I was trying to do, and then I started to watch the outfielder,” Springer said. “I watched what happened, and I sort of blacked out after that.”
What led to the resurgence of the Blue Jays' George Springer

With Springer reacting to his unbelievable Blue Jays feat, it is a microcosm of the bounce-back season he has had this season after hitting a .220 batting average with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs in 2024. This year, Springer recorded a .309 batting average to go along with 32 home runs and 84 RBIs, leading to Toronto hitting coach David Popkins giving insight into the 36-year-old's resurgence.
“We've just been reinforcing him to be who he has been his whole career,” Popkins said. “Go be violent. Go be aggressive. Don't slow down. You're a f—ing lion. Go attack, and it just empowered him to be who he is.”
Manager John Schneider would express how it felt when seeing Springer hit the home run, describing it as an “out-of-body experience.”
“It was almost like an out-of-body experience because of what he means to this team, to this organization.”
Now, the Blue Jays head into the World Series, where they will have their work cut out for them against the Los Angeles Dodgers, with Game 1 on Friday.
