The Toronto Blue Jays have been a mediocre team for a few years now and may be considering heading into a rebuilding stage. Making that consideration even more apparent was the roster move that the team made today.
According to a report from Jon Morosi of the MLB Network, the Blue Jays have decided to release veteran shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. He will still be owed $38 million guaranteed even after this move.

While Tulowitzki did not have a good season in 2017 and dealt with injury issues, this move was a bit of a surprise. Toronto was expected to bring him back for another season to see if he could bounce back. Unfortunately, it appears that they do not want to spend another season on an aging shortstop.
During the 2018 MLB season with the Blue Jays, Tulowitzki was forced to miss the entire season due to heel injuries. Toronto may very well have begun worrying about his ability to come back from two straight seasons of health problems.
Back in 2017 with the Jays, Tulowitzki batted .249 to go along with seven home runs and 26 RBI's.
Looking ahead at the rest of the offseason, Tulowitzki should not have too much trouble finding a new job. He may be 34 years old and has dealt with injury problems, but there will be teams that want to take a shot on him.
Tulowitzki is without question still capable of making an impact for a team if he can stay healthy. He has always had a quality bat and his defense has never had many issues. At the right price, Tulowitzki is going to find a new team to play with in 2019.
