Juan Soto's ascent into the top of the MLB has been a bright spot for the Washington Nationals. The team blew up their roster last season after a slow start, but they chose to keep the Dominican hitter on their roster. It essentially signaled to everyone that they believed Soto was their star of their franchise.
Against the San Francisco Giants, Soto earned a franchise record that will make Nationals fans breathe a sigh of relief. Juan Soto got his 500th career hit during that game. It officially made him the second-youngest hitter in Nats history to reach 500 hits. The record holder? Some dude named Bryce Harper, who's pretty good at this hitting baseballs thing too. Soto is everything you'd want out of a franchise player in today's MLB. Of course, he's insane in the batter's box: the Nationals star is slashing .432/.548/.980 in his young career. What sets Soto apart from his peers, though, is the flashiness in which he goes about his stuff.
The Nationals star has become one of the most enjoyable stars to watch on the field. He's not afraid to express himself on the field, whether it's by making these weird gestures on the mound or talking smack to his opponents. Soto is an incredible talent, and his charisma and confidence makes him the perfect building block for the team.
After their magical 2019 World Series run, the Nationals have failed to build off of that success. By entering a hard reset now, the team is hoping that they'll create a new dynasty, hopefully one where Soto is the king of the franchise.
