Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne, who just won Euro 2020 with Italy in the summer, will become a free agent in 2022, with the likes of Inter Milan and Tottenham interested in his services. However, MLS side Toronto FC have thrown their hat into the Insigne sweepstakes and made the Italian an offer that will be very hard to turn down.

Via Fabrizio Romano:

That would make Insigne the highest-paid player in the MLS by a longshot, with Carlos Vela currently topping that list with a salary of just over $6 million per season.

Insigne has scored 89 goals in 319 appearances for Napoli, coming up through the youth program and eventually breaking through with the first team in 2012 after several impressive loan spells. At 30-years-old, there are still many years of football ahead of him and it's believed that Insigne isn't interested in a move to another Serie A club because he doesn't want to play against Napoli.

That being said, the idea of the MLS is clearly intriguing for him. He currently earns €7.2 million with the Italian giants, therefore Insigne would be getting a substantial pay raise and the chance to become a star in a league where the caliber is certainly lower than Europe.

It feels like a win-win and needless to say, Toronto FC would be buzzing to get a talent like Lorenzo Insigne as they aim to get back into the MLS playoff picture in 2022.
