Thibaut Courtois has cemented his place in Real Madrid history following his historic Champions League performance, but that hasn't stopped Los Blancos from looking to the future at the goalkeeper. According to Fabrizio Romano, the next big American sensation is set to head overseas, as Real Madrid has begun plotting a bid for Chicago Fire goalie Gabriel Slonina.

No official bid for Slonina's services has yet been submitted, but Real Madrid are said to be in the process of preparing an opening offer to the Chicago Fire, where Slonina plays in the MLS. Born in 2004, Slonina just turned 18 in May and has spent two seasons playing in the MLS, featuring in a total of 25 games for Chicago in 2021 and 2022.

Just last week, Slonina made the critical decision to continue playing for the USMNT, opting to represent the United States instead of Poland for his international career. He earned his first call up to the Poland squad earlier in May, but opted to continue on his path with the USMNT.

Now, he could be set for a stunning move to La Liga and become a key part of the future at one of the world's biggest clubs. Slonina is touted as the best young goalkeeper in the United States, and a future star for the USMNT. A move to Real Madrid is a massive step in his career, and while he surely won't be featuring for the first team in La Liga any time soon, the move could do wonders for his development in the long term.
