Reigning Bellator women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg will be defending her title against Sinead Kavanagh.

Cris Cyborg is back in action and is finally slated for a title fight against KO artist Sinead “KO” Kavanagh in the main event of Bellator 271, Bellator president Scott Coker announced on Wednesday’s edition of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

The fight is scheduled on Nov. 12 and will take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, aired on Showtime.

Cyborg is coming in off of a four-fight winning streak and will be looking to extend it to five under the Bellator banner. The Brazilian MMA star has been undefeated since coming over from the UFC in 2019. She victoriously claimed the promotion’s women’s championship belt in her very first promotional appearance at Bellator 238 when she stopped Julia Budd in the fourth round in January 2020.

Since then, Cyborg has gone on to win two more title fights, having earned stoppage wins over Arlene Biencowe and fellow former UFC fighter Leslie Smith.

Kavanagh, on the other hand, is ending her one-year Bellator hiatus and is challenging for the featherweight title for the first time.

Despite being the obvious underdog, Kavanagh is not a fighter to write off as she has never been stopped in her entire professional MMA career, barring the doctor’s stoppage due to severe cut against Janay Harding in 2018.

Atop that, the Irish fighter is coming off back-to-back wins  and has won two of her last three fights via KO/TKO.
