The Detroit Pistons play host to the Washington Wizards on Monday as Detroit looks to end a 13-game losing streak.

Pistons head coach Monty Williams revealed that the team had a players-only meeting last Friday, according to James L. Edwards of The Athletic:

“Monty Williams said the players had a meeting last Friday. “It was accountability. No finger pointing.” “That’s why I tell people all the time that I love this group. They come to the gym every day ready to work and learn.”'

Cade Cunningham is doing his best to lead the team, but he does not have a supporting cast. Cunningham is scoring 22.0 points per game while leading the team with 7.1 assists, as well. He is clearly an All-Star, but nobody else on the Pistons scores more than 13.0 points per game. Jalen Duran is averaging a double-double, and Ausar Thompson is right behind him with 9.8 rebounds per game.

Cunningham recently called out his Pistons teammates amid the losing streak, saying “Unacceptable. We're the youngest team in the league, scrapping and clawing for everything. That should be the last thing that needs to be asked of us or talked about – how hard we're competing. That should be a given. When we wake up in the morning, we should be like, ‘We got to get to the court.”

The Pistons have a lot of young talent but need to show more fight. Even if they aren't going to win a lot of games, competitiveness matters. Hopefully for Pistons fans, the players-only meeting last week helped the team accept accountability and is the beginning of a better stretch of the season.
