This season the NBA MVP award favorite, according to many betting sites, is Luka Doncic.

However, the award seems to be wide open this year. There's LeBron James and Anthony Davis coming off a title in Los Angeles; Nikola Jokic emerging in Denver; and Stephen Curry's return with the Golden State Warriors. Basically, there are a lot of good candidates, but there are so many good players in the league that even All-NBA level players will receive no consideration at all for MVP.

On the daily Locked On Pacers Podcast, hosts Tony East and Adam Friedman discuss their NBA predictions. Moreover, they name seven stars who have zero shot at MVP this season.

Tony East: Okay, so here's my fun NBA MVP question, who is the absolute best player in the league that you can have say has no chance of winning MVP this year? Kyrie Irving? Pascal Siakam? Donovan Mitchell?

Adam Friedman: Yeah, Mitchell was the one I was looking at but I would probably say LeBron James and Anthony Davis, one of them because they'll cancel each other out.

Tony: LeBron always has a chance (at NBA MVP).

Adam: I guess. I guess my answer might be Paul George.

Tony: Trae Young might be mine also.

Adam: Ok, so Paul George. He's probably not good enough to ever win it, but he could have a nice stretch during the conversation but he just won't be able to put it all together. He'll do what he did in Oklahoma City where he had a great year for eight of the nine months but it just kind of tails off in the last month.
