The Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks seem to have some interest in Texas Tech guard Jarret Culver, a projected top-10 pick in the NBA Draft. Per Newsday's Steve Popper, Culver worked out for the Lakers and has another workout scheduled for the Knicks:

Culver is a 6'5 guard that projects to be a solid ball-handler or NBA wing player. In his sophomore season at Texas Tech, he averaged 18.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Culver looked comfortable running the offense in his last collegiate year as well as providing excellent defense over multiple positions. Most mock drafts have him going between the fourth and the eighth pick.

It makes more sense that the Lakers are interested in drafting Culver. Rumors have flown this offseason that the team is ready to trade Lonzo Ball. If they do, they can bring Culver on to replace him in the lineup.

It's interesting that the Knicks are scheduled to work out Culver because they have the No. 3 pick. There is a solid consensus that Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, and R.J. Barrett are the top three players in the draft. Barring any huge surprises, Williamson will be off the board first and Morant will follow behind him. Perhaps the Knicks could select Culver instead of Barret in the third spot.

There will definitely be some trades and swapping of picks before the draft arrives. We'll have to wait until Thursday, June 20th to see where Culver ends up, whether that's the Lakers, Knicks or elsewhere.
