Potential first overall pick LaMelo Ball has recently decided to give a helping hand to the victims of the devastating wildfires in Australia. The 18-year-old is reportedly donating a month's worth of his salary in the NBL as aid for those who are in dire need at the moment.

According to Ball, he is well aware of the situation and is very much willing to help in whatever way he can:

“It’s sad to see what is happening on the South Coast of Australia. People have lost their homes and everything they own,” LaMelo Ball said, via the Illawara Hawks official website. “My parents taught me to help out wherever I can, so this is my way of helping out.”

This is a nice gesture by LaMelo Ball during a time of crisis. These fires are causing a massive amount of damage, and any bit of help is needed when it comes to fighting them and supporting the victims.

The 6-foot-7 prospect had been playing very well in the NBL before a foot injury, averaging 17.0 points (on 37.0 percent shooting), 7.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. In late November, Ball produced a monster 32-point, 11-rebound, 13-assist triple-double.

LaMelo Ball will be eligible for the NBA Draft this coming summer, and at this point, many consider him to be one of the most coveted prospects of his class. The fact that he opted to play abroad as opposed to doing his one-and-done year in the NCAA has not at all hurt his chances of being the No. 1 overall pick in 2020.

In 2017, his older brother, Lonzo Ball, went second overall to the Los Angeles Lakers. There is a decent chance that LaMelo Ball will be able to do his big brother one better when his time comes.
