LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to close out the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat, a series that they possess a 3-1 lead in. Even so, James has been in the same predicament as the Heat during his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Former teammate Tristan Thompson sat down with “The Herd” and recalled a text message that he and his teammates had gotten from James one night in the midst of battling a 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors back in the 2016 NBA Finals:

“Lebron sent a text message and said ‘Listen, I know we're down 3-1…but if you don't believe that we can win this series, then don’t get on the fu*kin’ plane.' “

LeBron James then, of course, went on to make history, erasing a 3-1 deficit behind his iconic, chase-down block and arguably the greatest shot in finals history by Kyrie Irving.

James has a chance to be on the opposite side of history now, as the Lakers look to complete their fourth gentleman's sweep of the playoffs. He's been nothing short of his usual noble status throughout his playoff tenure in the bubble, averaging 26.9 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 8.8 assists throughout the four series.

His new sidekick in Anthony Davis was absent in Game 3 against the Heat with only 15 points and five rebounds through 32 minutes of play, however. After the disappointing performance, he turned things around in Game 4 with a 22-point, 9-rebounds effort.

The Heat have been able to keep themselves close in most games thanks to the talent of Jimmy Butler. With Bam Adebayo back as well, they've received some much-needed help in the frontcourt. Look for the Heat to make things interesting in Game 5 once more.
