On Thursday, the NBA announced the reserve players for the 2022 NBA All-Star Game. The 71st NBA All-Star Game will be held Sunday, February 20th at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

Of course, the players who made the All-Star team were mostly a who's who of the NBA. But there is one particular player who earned his first selection and made history in the process.

The Eastern Conference All-Star reserves are Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland, Brooklyn Nets guard James Harden, Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine, Milwaukee Bucks forward Khris Middleton, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, and Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet.

In being named an All-Star for the first time, VanVleet became the first undrafted player to earn All-Star honors since Ben Wallace with the Detroit Pistons and only the fourth ever to accomplish that feat.

Garland joins VanVleet in making his first appearance as an All-Star.

The Western Conference does not lack big names either.
