Allen Iverson is without a doubt one of the greatest players to have ever picked up a basketball. He has a Hall of Fame career to prove that fact, too. However, there's also no denying that the Sixers legend also had quite the reputation during his time as a pro.
Iverson recently opened up about one of the biggest off-court issues he had during his career. The 46-year-old spoke honestly about being labeled as a “weed head” by fans and how this stigma affected him on a personal level (h/t Bleacher Report on Twitter):
“I could hear the people in the crowd calling me ‘weed head’ on the road. … It was bad.” ⁰⁰@alleniverson reflects on how much the stigma on marijuana has changed and its impact on the NBA

As Allen Iverson described in his interview above, he once got arrested for possession of marijuana (and firearms, too). The former 11-time All-Star was also quick to point out that that same stigma is no longer as prominent (and damaging) today compared to when he was still playing in the league.
Be that as it may, Iverson still had a legendary career in the NBA. It's hard not to imagine, though, how differently his path would have been had it not been for all the outside noise. Could Iverson have reached greater heights if he did not have so much stuff going on outside the basketball court? Then again, I'm also pretty sure AI would not have it any other way.
