It's been a bit of a rocky freshman year for Bronny James at USC and now his future in basketball is up in the air. Although he recently claimed he'd be entering the transfer portal, James reportedly is also declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft. With that in mind, we take a look at which teams have the best odds of landing LeBron James' son.
Interestingly enough, oddsmakers don't have a single NBA team listed on Bronny James' next team odds. It's all schools. Ranging from big programs to smaller programs. Either way, oddsmakers believe James will remain in college despite declaring for the NBA Draft. Here are the top six programs with the best odds to potentially acquire James.
Ohio State: +300
Oregon: +400
Duquesne: +500
SMU: +700

Ohio State makes a ton of sense for Bronny James, as there were rumors he'd play for the Buckeyes before he ended up committing to USC. It's a move that would take James back to Cleveland and help bring a great basketball program back to contention. Oregon was another school that was on James' radar too. So, the Ducks very much could be in play to land him.
Duquesne is an interesting school here. Not only are they +500 and have the third best odds, but Dru Joyce, who was recently named head coach, was LeBron James' friend and teammate back in high school. Bronny James could largely benefit from playing for the Dukes. He'd be learning from someone who knows his father well and would be playing for a smaller school. It could be exactly what he needs to further his development.
What's next for Bronny James?
Bronny James is simply putting every option on the table. Many believe he's not ready to make the jump to the NBA just yet. He could largely benefit playing for a smaller school next season, as playing time will help James develop accordingly.
But it'll be interesting to see how his NBA Draft evaluation goes. There are rumors that whoever selects Bronny could also potentially land LeBron James as well. However, that's simply speculation for now.
What's most likely to happen is Bronny James will be evaluated for the NBA Draft and depending on the feedback he'll either go ahead and play in the league, or stay in college for at least one more season. Considering he was more of a role player for USC, it would make sense for James to find a school that will give him more playing time.
Last season, James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game playing roughly 19 minutes each contest. He also only shot 36.6% from the field and was only 26.7% from beyond the arc. So, Bronny James must become more efficient with his playing time moving forward. And that's probably part of the reason why oddsmakers believe he'll remain in college.
