It seems like the union between longtime couple Carmelo Anthony and his wife, La La, is officially coming to an end. According to reports, La La has filed for divorce after 11 years of marriage with the Portland Trail Blazers star.
In a report posted by TMZ Sports, it is being stated that La La filed the divorce papers on Thursday in New York, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split. Apparently, Melo and his wife have been separated for quite some time now, but the pair have remained friends. As such, the divorce is reportedly being labeled as an amicable decision.
The Blazers star has a 14-year-old son with his wife named Kiyan. The couple is looking out for their son and is doing everything in their power to ensure that their divorce transitions as smoothly as possible. Be that as it may, there's no denying that this will likely still serve as a life-changing blow for the teenager.
The union between Carmelo and his wife has not exactly been smooth-sailing. The Blazers veteran has been accused of cheating on La La on multiple occasions, with this being cited as the primary reason for their break-up back in 2017. They tried to work things out not long after, but more infidelity rumors eventually led to the marriage completely falling apart.
Carmelo Anthony just finished up a one-year deal with the Blazers. He is set to become a free agent, and it remains to be seen if Portland intends to offer him a new contract.
