Despite the current state of the NBA, the New York Knicks appear to be still making moves to fill some of the openings in their front office. The team from The Big Apple is currently in the hunt for an assistant general manager, with Cleveland Cavaliers front office man Brock Aller reportedly emerging as one of their primary targets.

As reported by Stefan Bondy of the Daily News, the Cavs have in turn given the Knicks the green light to approach Aller for the vacancy.

To that end, a source told the Daily News that Brock Aller — a capologist with the Cleveland Cavaliers — is a strong candidate to join the Knicks. Aller served as a personal assistant to Cavs owner Dan Gilbert for 10 years before a promotion in 2017 to senior director of basketball operations.

Just recently, the Knicks hired Mike Miller as the team's new interim head coach following the firing of David Fizdale. It is clear that the front office is looking at a revamp, and the addition of Aller might just be what the team need at the moment.

According to Cavs team owner Dan Gilbert, he believes that Aller's biggest asset is his expertise in the league's salary cap system.

“(Aller)'s probably one of the finer capologists in the league,” Gilbert told Cleveland.com in 2017. “He knows more about the cap than probably PricewaterhouseCoopers knows about the IRS code. He lives with the cap, with the collective bargaining agreement.

Nonetheless, the Knicks aren't taking a day off with their continued efforts in improving the team as they head to next season.
