Retired NBA icon Dwyane Wade responded to critics on his family's Thanksgiving photo, noting that “Stupidity is a part of this world we live in.”

Wade's wife, Gabrielle Union, sent out an Instagram post with a simple message of thankfulness. However, critics had negative remarks about the appearance of Zion Malachi Airamis, Dwyane’s 12-year-old child with Siohvaughn Funches.

In the photo, Zion is seen wearing a crop-top sort of shirt with long white fingernails:

Dwyane saw the negative remarks and decided to reply:

“I’ve seen some post-Thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo,” Wade said in a tweet. “Stupidity is a part of this world we live in — so I get it. But here’s the thing — I’ve been chosen to lead my family, not y’all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile!”

“As a parent, my only goal is that my kids feel that I see them, love them and support them,” Wade said in response to another Twitter user.

Dwyane Wade and his family have faced this sort of criticism in the past, but they remain in support of Zion, who reportedly attended a Miami pride parade along with Union and his siblings last spring. “We support each other wide Pride!” Wade wrote on Instagram.

Wade, now 37 years of age, retired from the NBA following the 2018-19 campaign. The former Marquette Golden Eagle racked up several prestigious accolades along the way, including three championships, 13 All-Star nods, and eight All-NBA selections.
