The most recent NBA hot take comes courtesy of Jalen Rose, who predicts that the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets will have a similar record by the end of the 2019-20 season.

Rose offered this view to Marc Berman of the New York Post on how the two New York teams will be running neck and neck through the regular season:

“On paper, while I love (Caris) LeVert, (Spencer) Dinwiddie and those guys playing with Kyrie and having (Jarrett) Allen down low, they have what it takes to be a playoff team. But without KD, their record will probably hover around what it was last year. On paper, if everyone plays to their expectations, I don’t feel the Knicks’ record should be far off that and almost be as good as theirs.”

Most NBA pundits and NBA fans in general would disagree with Rose.

The two teams had vastly different offseasons. The Nets picked up two of the top players in the game, while the Knicks loaded up on power forwards and didn't land a superstar.

As Rose points out, the Nets will be without Durant this season. But they still have Kyrie Irving and most of the roster that took them all the way to the sixth seed last year.

The Knicks, on the other hand, finished at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a record of 17-65.

Assuming the Nets have a similar record this year, they will finish around .500. The Knicks would have to improve by 24 games this season to match them.

Jalen Rose made a bold claim, and the Knicks will have to shock the league to prove him right.
