With all of the craziness that has occurred in the NBA this season as a result of COVID-19, some players have returned to play much later in their careers than many expected. Although the majority of these guys were already finished, it was good to see them return and get another chance to play in the NBA. JR Smith publicly stated in January that he hopes to return to the court in the future.

Smith spent more than a decade in the NBA, averaging 12.4 points per game and shooting 37% from three-point range. He had years where he was an elite role player for multiple teams that went on to make deep postseason runs.

Recently on ESPN, Smith had this to say:

“If a team needs to add an extra shooter to their roster, I’m available.”

It would be intriguing if any team decides to give Smith a chance to return to the court. However, it is unlikely at this moment because most teams have recovered from their COVID-19 outbreaks and are beginning to reclaim the majority of their players.

Smith's most recent playing days came with the Los Angeles Lakers, but he only played in six games. Although it is extremely improbable that the Lakers will opt to bring back Smith, it might be entertaining and something that the NBA community would enjoy.

JR Smith is currently getting his degree as he went back to college after his playing days.
