Music icon and fashion mogul Kanye West is apparently launching a Derrick Rose line of his Yeezy sneakers.

West tweeted out a bizarre design with the caption “YZY D Rose coming soon,” though the material featured in the tweet hardly seems to resemble a finished product:

Kanye West and Derrick Rose are Chicago natives, and both are also tied to the Adidas brand.

Kanye has routinely shown love for Rose, and Jay Z name-dropped Rose on the collaborative “Watch the Throne” album.

West also recently debuted his first basketball shoe, though the design has been banned by the NBA because of the “reflective material.”

It remains to be seen what the final product will look like, but Kanye West seems intent on paying homage to the man formerly known as the “Windy City Assassin.”

The timing seems pretty apt. Rose has risen from the ashes in one of the more inspiring comeback stories in modern NBA history.

Rose seemed hard-pressed to regain his MVP form after a number of knee injuries, and he struggled to evaluate his place in the game. However, Rose has since reestablished himself as a productive veteran guard.

The 31-year-old had a tremendous 2019-20 season with the Detroit Pistons, averaging 18.1 points, 5.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds while also shooting a career-high 49.0 percent from the field. In fact, Rose's per-36 line of 25.1 points, 7.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds is every bit as productive as his 2010-11 MVP season.

Rose has become one of Detroit's best trade chips, though it appears the Pistons will retain Rose in the final year of his contract. Detroit was asking for a haul in Rose trade discussions prior to the deadline in February.

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see how this new Yeezy D-Rose line develops for Kanye West.
