Former King Matt Barnes has reached out to the family of Stephon Clark to offer to help cover funeral expenses.

He isn't the only former King to offer to pay for the funeral of the 21-year-old unarmed black man who was killed at the hands of Sacramento police last Sunday. DeMarcus Cousins had also reached out earlier in the week to offer to help out the family.

According to CNN, Clark was shot by police who were responding to a report that a man had broken windows and was hiding in a backyard.

When officers entered the backyard, police say he advanced towards the officers with something in his hand. “Show me your hands!” one of the officers yelled, “Gun, gun, gun.”

Moments later, Clark was shot and pronounced dead. Since the shooting, there have been protests all over Sacramento including one outside the Golden 1 Center, the Kings new home on Thursday night that prevented more fans from getting in the arena. The game was delayed 20 minutes and only about 2,000 fans were able to watch the game while the rest were told to go home as the arena was closed.

Barnes took to Instagram on Wednesday night to give his thoughts and prayer.

“Thoughts & prayers go out to Stephon Clark & his family! Another pointless killing this time in my hometown of Sacramento Who’s gonna be next..? Your brother, son, uncle, dad…? #RIPYoungKing IF ANYONE KNOWS THIS FAMILY PLEASE DM ME”

This is just another in a long list of unarmed black men who have been shot at the hands of police officers.
