With the NBA playoffs just around the corner, the Brooklyn Nets aim to win their first NBA championship since 1976. The front office has done a tremendous job in obtaining superstar talent and a plethora of rotational players to make the roster as strong as possible. After garnering a super team, one would think Brooklyn is the sure-fire favorite to win it all this year.
However, former NBA player, now analyst, Kendrick Perkins, has a reason for concern regarding the Brooklyn Nets this postseason. In a segment on ESPN's, The Jump, Perkins offers his opinion and points out the one thing the Nets lack: Chemistry.
He does mention how it's likely that James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant will play at a high level. However, it's the rest of the roster he's concerned with. Durant has been sidelined for most of the season due to injury, and James Harden hasn't played while nursing a hamstring injury as well. Kyrie Irving missed time in the beginning portion of the year due to personal matters. This means the Nets' big three have hardly played together at all.
When looking at the roster, the team isn't all that impressive outside of their three superstars. Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge were exciting acquisitions, and Joe Harris has played well lately. However, once Harden and Durant are back in the lineup, how will the rest of the team adjust? It's not the most absurd take from Kendrick Perkins, as it remains to be seen how the team will jive once fully complete.
Durant is listed as probable to play on Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. Keep a close eye on the Nets, as we could see KD back on the court after missing nearly two months. It could be a glimpse into what we can expect the Nets to look like during the playoffs.
