Twitter was ablaze on Sunday after a thread initially about a tomato turned into the tomato's resemblance to NBA Hall of Famer Larry Bird.

A user with the handle @bingowings14 posted a picture of a tomato with a rather puzzled sort of expression.

However, the tweet really went viral once others started to notice the face in the tomato really did look like “Larry Legend.”

There were even some side-by-side comparisons.

Humorous, to be sure, but also fairly accurate. Some might even say fitting.

The NBA icon grew up in West Baden, Indiana, a small village just outside French Lick. Both West Baden and French Lick have some roots in farming and agriculture.

Of course, Larry Bird experienced quite a drastic shift in terms of relevance and national fame. He became one of the best collegiate players in the country while at Indiana State, and he dueled Magic Johnson in the 1979 NCAA title game, arguably still the most famous game in NCAA Basketball history.

From there, Bird would cement his place as one of the greatest players to ever step foot on the hardwood. He made the NBA All-Star team in 13 of his 14 seasons, winning three Most Valuable Player Awards and also leading the Boston Celtics to three championships in the 1980s.

Bird — along with Johnson, his longtime rival — helped accelerate the popularity of the NBA in the 80s, way before Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls took the league to new heights in the 90s.

Larry Legend is certainly revered by NBA personnel and fans both past and present. As Sunday's events seem to indicate, he also has an uncanny resemblance to a tomato.
