On Thursday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver confirmed that the league is indeed considering the possibility of shortening the season in order to address the injury concerns that have been an issue for nearly every single team. Former NBA champ turned ESPN analyst Richard Jefferson caught wind of the commissioner's comments, and let's just say he wasn't too pleased about it.

Jefferson recently went on an all-out tirade to slam the idea of reducing the amount of games teams played during the regular season. In his mind, this concept is simply ridiculous:

“You wanna shorten the season?” Richard Jefferson asked passionately, via Hoop Central on Twitter. “Like how much more do we have to make this coddling and all of this stuff go with the players? It makes absolutely no sense. Professional sports is not good on your body. It's supposed to separate the people that can do it from the people that can't do it. And while we do want our best product on the floor, part of greatness in longevity…  I think this is a joke. I think they should never do this… This right here is the epitome of coddling players to make sure that everything is okay.”

Talk about a hot take, right? Richard Jefferson clearly doesn't like the idea of shortening the season and he so eloquently pointed out why he strongly believes so. In his mind, Jefferson is adamant that not only will this potential decision keep on overindulging the players and the teams, but ultimately, it will also ruin the game as we know it.
