Tempers flared between the Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets in Game 6 of their second-round NBA playoff series on May 9. More specifically, Blazers guard Seth Curry took exception to Nuggets guard Will Barton's antics. After officials called Denver center Nikola Jokic for the offensive foul with 6:16 left in the game, Barton pointed a finger at Curry's face during a dead ball situation.

Curry didn't like what Barton did ā€“ the former came charging toward the latter. Cooler heads such as Meyers Leonard, Evan Turner, and Torrey Craig stepped in and prevented the situation from escalating further.

According to Bleacher Report's Scott Polacek, ā€œWill Barton appeared to poke Seth Curry in the eye as the two were jawing back and forth during a scuffle.ā€

At this point, it isn't clear who instigated the fracas. It's just unfortunate Barton let his emotions get the better of him. Polacek predicts the league will discipline the Nuggets guard for his actions.

The Curry-Barton altercation was the pinnacle of a testy game between the two sides. Aside from the two, officials also teed up Craig and Zach Collins.

It has been a chippy and physical series between Denver and Portland so far. Jokic confronted Leonard after the latter fouled him hard in the fourth quarter of Game 5 on Tuesday. The bad blood between the two teams spilled over at Portland's Moda Center two days later.

Blazers guards Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum combined for 62 points in their 119-108 win over the Nuggets on Thursday. The win forced a Game 7 at Denver's Pepsi Center on May 12. Expect both teams to slug it out once again.
