Four-time NBA champion Shaquille O'Neal has made headlines lately due to his controversial comments about the NBA and WNBA. O’Neal’s latest comment, which he said on air last Tuesday, was a suggestion to the WNBA to lower the rim so that ladies could dunk more, similar to what men do in the NBA.

O’Neal’s comment did not sit well with current WNBA player Candace Parker, and legend Cynthia Cooper, who both barked back. During the TNT post-game show, Parker said O’Neal’s suggestion was unnecessary and even said her daughter, Lailaa Nicole Williams, will prove him wrong one day when she steps foot on the courts of the WNBA.

Meanwhile, Cooper said her piece when she appeared in the Legend Live Podcast on Thursday. Cooper believes that the WNBA is fine at where it is right now and shouldn’t change anything like the height of the rim.

“When do guys get to tell women what is best for our game? We don’t tell guys what’s best for theirs,” says Cooper. “I think we play great basketball. The time is coming for women to consistently play over the rim as well,” added Cooper.

Shaquille O’Neal’s recent comments have drawn a ton of reactions from basketball fans, especially on social media. Aside from his head-scratching WNBA comment, he and Parker have argued a few times about the game on air. One of which was when Parker gave O’Neal a lesson in modern-day pick-and-roll defense which, like his recent comment, made headlines across social media.
