Former NBA superstars Tracy McGrady and Jermaine O'Neal are taking over the sports agency world. The two successful all-stars are teaming up and planning to start a player representation agency called Seven1 Sports Group and Entertainment.

“We think it’s needed, and we have a passion for it,” McGrady said (per nytimes.com). “We’re around kids every single day because we have youth programs. It just makes sense. We see the lack of information that these kids are getting, so we would be doing a disservice to our people if we don’t lend our expertise of what we know and help guide them. This is a calling that we have.”

Both Tracy McGrady and O'Neal were drafted out of high school as top prospects from their respective programs. Six-time NBA All Star O'Neal was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1996 NBA Draft while two-time NBA Scoring Champ McGrady was picked by the Toronto Raptors the year after.

There were a lot of connections between the two early in their professional careers and sitting down for the very first time in 1998 drew an instant spark between the two and they've been basically brothers ever since. Come this fall, they're planning to take this collaboration even further and provide young talents with much-needed guidance and assistance.

“There’s no magic wand for this,” O’Neal said. “We’re not trying to say we’re the magic wand. But we’re going to be different. You can’t name another pair of people who have had the level of success and the ups and downs that we’ve had in our careers.”

If things fall into place for both McGrady and O'Neal, they are poised to become the most successful NBA stars in history to make it to the highly competitive sports agency business.
