Why The Kings Could Cover The Spread

The Sacramento Kings have been having a tough season. Through their first 27 games they only have 11 wins. They have lost their last two games, with their most recent loss coming against the Cleveland Cavaliers by 14. The Kings will look to turn things around on Monday as they face the Toronto Raptors. Toronto has also been struggling and this could be the game where the Kings turn things around. If they want to win on Monday they will need to correct the mistakes from their previous games.

In their loss to the Cavs the Kings managed to keep pace in some statistics, but feel short in others. Sacramento and Cleveland actually made the same number of shots in that game. However, the Kings struggled when shooting behind the arc, making only 7 of 28 attempts. Another impactful metric in that game was free throws. Sacramento only made 14 free throws while Cleveland made 23. Rebounding was fairly even for both teams, however the Cavs did a better job of moving the ball around and they managed to dish out 8 more assists than the Kings. All together it was a lackluster performance from Sacramento, however if they can correct their mistakes they could easily be competitive on Monday.

Leading the way for this Kings team is De'Aaron Fox. Fox is perhaps one of the only silver linings on this team, and even he has had his struggles. In their loss to Cleveland, Fox only scored 13 points. This was a significant decrease in performance from his previous two games where scored over 30. On the season he is averaging nearly 21 points per game, and he has been hugely important in getting the Sacramento offense going. If Fox can bounce back on Monday, then he could potentially lead his team to a victory.

Why The Raptors Could Cover The Spread

The Toronto Raptors have also been having an underwhelming season. Through their first 26 games they only have 12 wins. They are coming off a 3 point win over the New York Knicks in a very low scoring game. The Raptors will look to carry momentum from that win into another tough match up. While Toronto is a favorite heading into Monday's game they need to be ready for battle. This will likely be a very different game than their last, but if the Raptors come in prepared then they should be able to get the win.

The Knicks-Raptors game was very close and both teams managed to come out ahead in different categories. Obviously Toronto scored more points, but they only made one more shot than New York. However, where they really got their edge was in three pointers, Toronto made three more threes than the Knicks. Yet, New York made more free throws and actually managed to out rebound Toronto by 7. The Raptors were ahead in assists, dishing out 21 compared to the Knicks 18. What the game likely came down to was turnovers. The Knicks turned the ball over 13 times while Toronto only did so 8 times. That was a very gritty game and if the Raptors can approach this game with the same determination then they should be able to come out ahead.

Leading the way for this Raptors team is Pascal Siakam. Spicy P has emerged as one of the most talented players in the league and has become the face of the Raptors franchise. In their win over New York, Siakam struggled and only scored 13 points and grabbed 12 boards. Even though he struggled to shoot efficiently, his team was still able to pull out the win. While Siakam may be the best player on this team, the Raptors have depth and can lean on other guys. If Siakam can have a big night on Monday and the rest of the team can step up, then the Raptors should be able to dominate Sacramento.

Final Kings-Raptors Prediction & Pick

This is a pretty close one. The Kings are listed as pretty big underdogs, but that could be for good reason. Sacramento has been very inconsistent this season. On the flip side, the Raptors seem to finally be coming together. They managed to take down the Knicks in spite of a poor shooting night from Siakam. They should be able to take down the Kings. Pick the Raptors to win and cover
