The Phoenix Suns will play the New Orleans Pelicans in a Western Conference matchup on Tuesday evening. It's time continue our NBA odds series with a Suns-Pelicans prediction and pick.
The Suns and Pelicans will play on Tuesday as Phoenix will still be without several key pieces due to NBA health and safety protocols. Chris Paul and Devin Booker continue to carry the Suns to the second best record in the NBA behind the Golden State Warriors. On the other hand New Orleans has the second worst record in the West to this point as they have struggled in the absence of Zion Williamson. The Suns come in as road favorites in this matchup to no surprise despite their lengthy list of inactives.

Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread
Chris Paul and Devin Booker continue to light up box scores and opponents night in and night out as the Suns are easily one of the best teams in the NBA to this point this season. They are suffered from a Covid outbreak however and the following players will miss Tuesday's game barring changes: Deandre Ayton, Jae Crowder, JaVale McGee, Abdel Nader, Frank Kaminsky, Dario Saric. The Suns are super thin inside at the moment and that could leave the door open for games being closer than expected.
Phoenix vs. the spread
The Suns are 19-17 vs. the spread so far this season and 6-4 in their last ten games. Phoenix is 7-5 against the number as an away favorite and 17-15 as a favorite overall vs. the line. This could be a good spot for a cover as the Pelicans are on back to back.
Why The Pelicans Could Cover The Spread
New Orleans has been better of late, winning six of their last ten games after really struggling to start the season. The absence of Zion Williamson is massive, but Brandon Ingram and company have picked it up a bit of late and look much better than they did a few weeks ago. Ingram is averaging 22.5 points and 4.9 assists per game this season for the Pelicans. This could be a tough spot for New Orleans to cover or win vs. one of the best teams in the NBA. The Pelicans are also on a back to back in this one after losing by double-digits at home to the Utah Jazz on Monday.
New Orleans vs. the spread
The Pelicans are 16-21 vs. the spread this season and 10-7 against it at home. New Orleans is 13-17 as an underdog this season and 8- 6 as a home dog. This is a tricky spot to take them with the points vs. a shorthanded but much better Suns team.
Final Suns-Pelicans Prediction and Pick
Take the Pelicans and the points in this one as the Suns continue to play banged up. Phoenix is down to very few big guys from their original roster so the Pelicans might be able to bully them in the paint. The Suns do have the rest edge however, and will probably win this game. The Pelicans, as always, are a bit of a risky play as they overall have struggled this season.
Final Suns-Pelicans Prediction & Pick: Pelicans +7 (-110)
