The Minnesota Timberwolves will play the Los Angeles Lakers in a Western Conference matchup on Sunday. It's time continue our NBA odds series with a Timberwolves-Lakers prediction and pick.

The Timberwolves and Lakers play Sunday as LeBron James looks to continue his hot streak. James scored 43 points in 29 minutes in his last game which was a win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Minnesota is still without Karl-Anthony Towns while Anthony Edwards is questionable. James looks to continue to carry the Lakers alongside Russell Westbrook in the absence of Anthony Davis. The Lakers come in as big favorites at home vs. the KAT-less Timberwolves, which comes as no surprise.

Here is how FanDuel has set the Timberwolves-Lakers odds for this Sunday NBA matchup.

NBA Odds: Timberwolves-Lakers Odds

Minnesota Timberwolves +8 (-110)

Los Angeles Lakers -8 (-110)

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread

Minnesota is getting quite a few points here but will be without their star center in Towns in addition to guard D'Angelo Russell. This will be a tough matchup as LeBron James has been on fire of late. The Timberwolves are 5-5 in their last 10 games but have lost four of their last five as both Edwards and Towns have been out. Before the Covid issues the Timberwolves had been hot and surged into the playoff picture. They will try to get things going back in the right direction as they slowly get their full team back. If Edwards is able to suit up in this one, the Timberwolves could be a sneaky play for a cover in this spot. Taurean Prince and Jarred Vanderbilt are also questionable for this one.

Minnesota vs. the spread

The Timberwolves are 18-17 vs. the spread this season, and 7-3 in their last ten games. Minnesota is 9-6 against the spread on the road this season and 12-10 as an underdog outright.

Why The Lakers Could Cover The Spread

LeBron James has been on a tear of late, but Los Angeles has still lost three of their last five games as they continue to play shorthanded. The absence of Anthony Davis has been huge and the fit with Russell Westbrook continues to be awkward at best. This is a lot of points to lay with a Lakers team that has been poor vs. the spread this season. The Lakers are the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference and just 4-6 in their last ten games. The Lakers may be able to cover and win here, but the cover is a bit suspect as Los Angeles has struggled to cover as home favorites all season.

Los Angeles vs. the spread

The Lakers are just 15-22 vs. the spread this season, and 5-5 against the number in their last ten games. Los Angeles is 7-14 against the spread at home this season and 6-12 as a home favorite. Los Angeles has struggled in general, as well as vs. the spread to this point this season.

Final Timberwolves-Lakers Prediction and Pick

Take the Timberwolves to cover here IF Anthony Edwards plays. If Edwards is out, take the Lakers to win and cover as the Timberwolves would still be without their best two players. Edwards returning to the floor would provide a boost to the entire team and could make this a competitive game.

Final Timberwolves-Lakers Prediction & Pick: Timberwolves +8 (-110)
