It is quite a surprise that Sixth Man extraordinaire, Jamal Crawford is still one of the free agents available at this stage of the offseason.

The 38-year-old veteran guard is known for his ability as a microwave scorer who has killer handles with the ball. Last season, Crawford spent his time with the Minnesota Timberwolves as a spark plug off the bench. He averaged 10.3 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.

As the Timberwolves declined their extension on him this summer, the three-time Sixth Man of the Year has been lingering in free agency.

To the right team, despite his age, Crawford can provide a much-needed boost for the bench unit. He may not be of any help defensively, but his ability to score on a cap friendly price might just keep things interesting for certain teams.

ESPN’s Marc Spears, during an appearance on The Jump, said that Crawford still isn't near joining a new team, but there have been a few franchises, namely the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, and Philadelphia 76ers, that are interested in his services.

“He said ‘Nothing yet,’ but he’s had some interest from the Lakers, had some interest from the Sixers. Had some from Golden State although I don’t think the Golden State thing will be there with Patrick McCaw coming back”

Contenders are still looking around the league for additional talent that can help them move forward into the season. His services may not be franchise-altering material anymore, but when games are on the line Crawford may just be the factor that tips the needle from contender to a champion.
