Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young will not need an MRI in his injured right ankle, being listed as day-to-day from here on, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. Had this been the playoffs, Young would have been able to play on Thursday in the second portion of a home-and-away against the Miami Heat, as there wasn’t any major swelling.
This is a huge relief for the franchise, which now expects Young to return as soon as next week, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. There was a prior belief that Young could miss up to two weeks with the injury after the second-year star was helped off the floor by the training staff after rolling his ankle on the foot of Justise Winslow.

Young put up five points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 11 minutes of action before departing. Before his matchup against the Heat, the Oklahoma product got off to a rousing start to the season, scoring 38, 39, and 25 points in his first three games with the Hawks, recording nine assists in each of those games.
Shooting guard Kevin Huerter has been the secondary playmaker of Lloyd Pierce's offense, and he's expected to step up in the absence of Young, despite coming off an injury of his own. DeAndre Bembry, who logged 27 minutes on Tuesday against the Heat, is likely to get the nod to start in Young's place, considering Evan Turner is still listed as day-to-day.
