Young won't play on Thursday versus the Heat in Atlanta. The Hawks say Young will be re-evaluated on Monday and his status will be updated as appropriate:

Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young sustained a right ankle sprain during last night’s game at Miami. Earlier today he received treatment at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex and he was ruled OUT for tomorrow night’s game versus the Miami Heat. Young will be re-evaluated on Monday and his status will be updated as appropriate.

Young has gotten off to a stellar start to the season for the Hawks. He's averaging 26.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.3 assists while shooting 50.7 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 80.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Young won the Eastern Conference Player of the Week Award for week 1 of the season. The Hawks, after losing to the Heat, are 2-2 on the season.

Last season for the Hawks, Young put up 19.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game. He shot 41.8 percent from the floor, 32.4 percent from the 3-point line and 82.9 percent from the charity stripe.

The Hawks haven’t made the playoffs since 2017. In a wide-open Eastern Conference, Young and Atlanta are eager to prove the world wrong and make a postseason run.

Hopefully, Trae is back sooner rather than later.
