Like most of the young point guards from this generation, Atlanta Hawks All-Star Trae Young is a big admirer of Chris Paul's game.
The 22-year-old shooter spent his downtime wisely on Friday by reviewing some old footage of the OG “point God.” Young shared a highlight clip of Paul on his Instagram Stories, back when he still played for the New Orleans Hornets in his rookie year in 2005.

Trae Young called the 10-time All-Star a “baby face CP3,” who can be seen punishing the Sacramento Kings with his brilliant inside-outside game. The Hawks floor general claimed that he might have been watching that game live.

It's not hard to see why Young is enamored with the way Chris Paul carries himself on the basketball court. Trae probably even patterned some of his game to CP3 growing up.
While there's a huge age gap between the two, Paul and Young do possess a lot of similarities. Both players are considered a bit undersized at their position at 6-foot-1, but they bring a fiery competitive spirit on the court every given night.
Young had his coming out party in his sophomore year, notching impeccable numbers of 29.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 9.3 assist and 1.1 steal in 60 games. The former Oklahoma Sooners standout shot 43.7 percent from the field and 36.1 from downtown. Paul, on the other hand, also showed no signs of slowing down for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season. He tallied a spectacular 17.6 points on top of 5.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists.
Now entering his third season in the NBA in 2020-21, Young has had the pleasure of going up against Paul on numerous occasions. He'll get another opportunity to take on his idol next month, when the Hawks play host to the surging Phoenix Suns on January 14.
