While Young has been on the receiving end of plenty of criticisms, he doesn't let all the negative talks bother him. Instead, he's suing it as motivation to win and shut up his haters for good.

“I want to win a championship; that's the main goal,” Young told People. “I'm at a space where everything's been said, so there's really nothing new.”

After the Hawks lost in the first round of the playoffs, Trae Young and co. received major backlash. They were coming off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 2020-21, so the expectations were they're going to improve and perhaps reach the NBA Finals.

The Hawks just never had anything great going for them in 2021-22, and the fact that they made the playoffs through the play-in further highlighted the struggles throughout the year.

While it is easy to get discouraged from such results, the Hawks should be happy that Young remains mentally resilient. That is exactly what they need from a leader if they want to be legitimate title contenders.

For now, the Hawks have plenty of questions to answer with regards to their roster this offseason. Young seems to be the only untouchable player on the team, which suggests there could be major changes coming to Atlanta.
