There's a bit of silver lining for Atlanta Hawks fans. After point guard Trae Young went down with an ankle injury late in the second quarter in a game against the Milwaukee Bucks, fans feared the worst. Their worries weren't eased when Young announced he would not travel with the team for their next game in Chicago.

Fortunately,  X-rays done on his sprained right ankle came back negative. Young had to be helped off the court by teammates Kevin Huerter and John Collins. According to the team, Young will stay in Atlanta to receive treatment.

Atlanta would go on to fall to the Bucks 112-86 despite Milwaukee missing 2019 MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. In 15 minutes, Young would record 12 points and dish out two assists.

Prior to Friday, Young had only missed one game this season. The 21-year-old star suffered an ankle injury against the Miami Heat back in October.

The loss puts Atlanta at 6-26 on the season — the worst record in the NBA. Despite the team's lack of success, Young has exploded in his sophomore season. Prior to Friday's game, the 6-foot-2 guard out of Oklahoma was averaging 29.0 points, 8.5 assists ad 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 36.6 percent from deep.

This season, Young ranks fourth in the NBA in points per game behind James Harden, Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic. The former No. 5 overall pick is also in the top five in assists per game but also leads the league in turnovers per game with 4.7.

The injured point guard's next chances to return will be on Monday against the Orlando Magic and on January 3. against the Boston Celtics.
