Who holds the Philadelphia 76ers record for most 10-assist games by a rookie? Well, there’s a new answer for that: Ben Simmons.

With another stellar performance during Monday night’s 108-94 home win over the visiting Charlotte Hornets, Simmons broke Allen Iverson’s two-decade-old record for a Sixers rookie when the Hall of Fame guard had 18 10-dime outings during the 1996-97 campaign.

Against the spiraling-out-of-control Hornets, Simmons uncorked another triple-double, scoring 11 points, plucking 12 rebounds, and serving his teammates with 15 assists in an all-around effort basketball fans have gotten used to seeing from the former LSU Tiger. Simmons also got ample help from teammates Joel Embiid and Robert Covington. Embiid had a night himself, pacing the team with 25 points to go with 19 rebounds, while Covington chipped in 18 points with four three-pointers with five rebounds and two assists.

Apart from breaking Allen Iverson’s single-season record for most double-digit dimes by a rookie, Simmons is also closing in on The Answer’s record for most assists in a season by a Sixers rookie, as he now has 524 assists. Simmons only needs 33 more assists to tie it and 34 to set a new franchise mark. That is most likely going to happen, as there are still 13 games left on the Sixers’ regular-season schedule.

So far, Ben Simmons is averaging 16.3 points, 7.7 assists, and 7.8 rebounds per contest.

Simmons and the Sixers will look to extend their win streak to four games this Wednesday at home against the Memphis Grizzlies. Philly is currently occupying the sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 39-30 record.
