By all accounts, this should be one of the best years of Celtics star Jaylen Brown's career. He is averaging career highs in every single counting stat except for rebounds per game, as well as in multiple field goal metrics. The team is featuring him in a co-star role, too. He and fellow leader Jayson Tatum are getting along great on and off the court, and he was just named to his first All-Star Team.
Only one thing is missing: the Celtics are only 20-21 thus far this season. According to Brown, the team's struggles weigh heavy on his mind:
Jaylen Brown: "I haven't done a good job leading this team. I lost sleep because of that."

Boston is mixed in a wild scrum at the bottom of the Eastern Conference playoff picture, and hold a tenuous grip on the conference's eighth seed. Meanwhile, Chicago and Indiana are nipping right behind at their heels, and feature All-Stars of their own. This Boston team, it should be noted, has made several deep trips into the playoffs in recent years, and by the measurements of most NBA analysts, are falling short of preseason expectations.
Lending even more drama to the situation of the team are the swirling rumors about head coach Brad Stevens possibly leaving them to go back to the NCAA and helm Indiana University's men's basketball team. Although the coach has denied any truth to that, it couldn't have helped the mood around the team.
Now, there is a positive way to spin Brown's comments amidst the murk of Boston's season. Jaylen Brown is, if nothing else, one of the very best energy players in the league. As a fan, he is the exact player you want on your team, and the exact player that you hate on the opponent's. Now that he is a leader and an All-Star, it is pleasing to see that his new accolades and attention aren't distracting him from what should be Boston's final goal: reaching the NBA Finals.
