Atlanta Hawks big John Collins is in the sights of the Boston Celtics for a trade, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. The latest NBA trade rumors say that the Hawks are asking for a king's ransom in exchange for the young, talented Collins — a high first-round draft pick and/or a talented young player.

A more plausible addition for the Celtics would be Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes, according to The Athletic's Sam Amick

Boston general manager Danny Ainge will certainly have some big decisions to make before the trade deadline. John Collins would be a great fit with the Celtics and will give the team its best center, since Al Horford.

John Collins has the versatility to play both power forward and center. He is an underrated defender, especially around the rim, and can comfortably score from anywhere on the court. So far, he has regressed from his performance last season, where he averaged 21.6 points, 10.1 boards, 1.5 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 58.3% from the field and 40.1% from deep. A possible reason for this is the addition of Clint Capela and Danilo Gallinari in the frontcourt. John Collins is still just 23 and fits the timeline of Boston All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

At age 28, Barnes is having his best season in the NBA. He has become more well-rounded and is averaging 16.7 points, 6.2 boards, and 3.5 dimes. Barnes does his best work as a small-ball four. While he may seem small even for that position, he possesses a good amount of functional strength and won't be bullied inside by most power forwards. His rebound and assist averages are career bests.
